WE DID IT! Working together over the last ten games of the 2017 regular season you contributed over $1.3 million for educational equity and opportunity programs!
I can’t thank you enough for standing with me and making this investment in youth. Deciding to donate all of my game checks to charity made this a big season for me, and your generosity made it even bigger.
Every game this year I took the field with a little extra motivation. I knew that in doing what I love on Sundays, I was able to enhance my platform and do more good. When I started Pledge 10, I was optimistic that I wouldn’t do this alone and my investment would be matched by fan support. To see fans exceed my initial hopes and reach over $1 million is inspiring. And most importantly it reaffirms for the students we are supporting that people care and want to see them succeed.
The regional competition has now ended. I put $50,000 on the line to the city that had the most individual pledges at the end of the regular season. I am excited to congratulate St. Louis for being our winner! College Bound and The Little Bit Foundation will split the prize money. Thank you to the cities of Philadelphia and Boston, we all made a huge difference.
The effect of working together for a common goal is why I played my 10th season in the NFL for free and challenged fans to get involved. This is the power of sports in action. I hope it won’t stop here, but that more people will become inspired to commit energy and resources to our educational system. It will be the number of people invested in this cause that will be the difference maker for a quality education for every student in America. Education is the best gateway to a better tomorrow for EVERYONE in America.
