Hello everyone!
The volleyball program at Carson City-Crystal High School is excited to host our second annual “Ace for a Cure” pink volleyball game on October 18th at home against Vestaburg HS. We are excited to have a fun night and raise money for a great cause. Even though October and the pink theme is primarily known for breast cancer awareness, we recognize that there are many other types of cancer that affect our community. This year we have decided to donate money to Anthony Cornacchione, the son-in-law of Carson City community members, Dan and Nancy Fenn. Mr. Cornacchione has been fighting gliosarcoma, which is a form of brain cancer. Money raised will help the family with medical bills, expenses, etc. There will also be a community benefit at St. Mary’s Hall in Carson City on 11-12-16 from 5-10 pm. This game is not only an opportunity to raise money, it is also a chance to recognize our volleyball players and all the hard they have put in, as we honor our varsity players and their parents.
This year we will be encouraging everyone to pledge money towards every ACE our varsity players get on the night. For those of you who do not know volleyball lingo, an ace is defined as a serve which lands in the opponent’s court without being touched, or is touched, but unable to be kept in play by one or more receiving team players. This will be an exciting way to get the fans involved with what is going on during the game and really encourage our girls to get as many as possible. As a team, we average approximately 5 aces per set (game to 25 and we play best 3 out of 5) so I think it would be great to get the fans hyped up every time a player gets an ace. I encourage you to pledge $1, $2, $10 or even $100 towards this great cause. Lets get our girls fired up and cheer them on to a victory.
We would appreciate any support you can give us, even if it means just coming to cheer us on. GO EAGLES!
