A message from Ben Storey:
I'm participating in "Von's Vision: Sacks for Sight" benefiting Von's Vision Foundation, Inc.. Please support me by pledging per sack during my fundraising campaign. I believe in Von's Vision Foundation, Inc.'s mission and I'm excited to earn your support with every sack. Please help me reach the campaign goal of $75,000 by pledging now. I really appreciate your support. Thank you!
You read that correctly. This season, I’m shooting for 20 sacks, and I’m pledging $2,000 for every one of them. This is your chance to join me in giving kids the gift of sight by making your pledge.
Not only does poor vision without proper eye care cause headaches for children, but it can also lead to poor grades. According to the Economic Policy Institute, 50% of low-income children have vision impairment that affects their academic performance. This percentage is nearly double the rate than more affluent communities, stacking the odds even further against economically-disadvantaged children. I know this all too well, as I was one of those kids.
This need continues later on in life, especially for students who take on the burden of college tuition, room and board, and many other expenses. These financial constrictions serve as barriers and prevent students from receiving proper vision care. As a result, their ability to focus on studies is severely impacted.
It only takes $20 to provide a vision screening and a pair of glasses for an underprivileged child. That’s $1 per sack if I go out and do my part on the field. With your pledges adding up, I might just go out there and get 25! Let’s give kids the gift of sight together!
