The 12D² Walk

Hello, I am Danielle Ezzard, Artisan Soap Crafter and Wickless Candle Maker of Savon Aromatique.

Since a child, I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, I thought I could run my own business at 9 years old by selling greetings cards door to door. So, you see, I have always had the desire to have my own business. In 2007 I suffered a severe neck, back, and shoulder injury which left me disabled and not able to return to work. While I was also coping with my new limitations on my mobility to make a living. I was also addressing my skin issues of severe eczema. I was doing research online to see what I could use to help my skin.  I discovered that l could make soap. I took a class and watched as many videos as I could about soapmaking.  I researched ingredients that are soothing and calming to the skin and formulated my customized soap.  I then moved on to creating lotions, body butters,  and candles in my spare time. What started as a hobby, ignited the passion of starting my own business again, and in 2009 Savon Aromatique was created.

One of my most important dreams came true in November 2015 when I opened an outdoor kiosk in Astoria, NY, and set up my production in Bronx, NY. It was a success, due to very harsh winter conditions affecting my body, I reluctantly had to close the kiosk. This great disappointment led me to search for a larger place to reopen Savon Aromatique, which I have found.

This is where I truly need your help. My target goal is to raise $25,000 which will cover three months’ rent, enable me to purchase supplies, equipment, and raw materials to produce products, and expand my business at retail and wholesale levels.  We are asking you to pledge to The 12D² Walk that is taking place on Saturday, September 4, 2021.

You are probably asking what does 12D² stands for? It will be 12 years ago in September I became determined upon determined to walk again on my own and not with a walker. It was also 12 years ago that Savon Aromatique was born right at my kitchen table. I was determined times determined to build this business that will help others just as it has helped me to keep fighting all these years. 12 years ago I walked for me. Now, I am walking for my business with determination times determination.  12 miles stands for 12 years,  D stands for determination, and  ²  is determination times determination henceforth the name 12D².

I have been through a lot during these past years. Being homeless for – three of those years. Dealing and managing the limitations of my injuries, losing family and friends but still pursuing my dream of building my soap business despite my circumstances. Yes, I have lost a lot in these past few years but never my desire to contribute to my family and community. It is the goal of Savon Aromatique to have the opportunity to teach others the joy of soap and candle making as well as provide jobs for those in need in our community.

I pray that you will find it in your heart to pledge towards our cause. The 12D² Walk is a very important event for Savon Aromatique. Every step that is taken is a step closer to our ultimate goal of opening our flagship store, manufacturing, and wholesale distribution site in Harlem and providing jobs to over 500 people in our community.  We thank you in advance for your prayers and support.
