Cool Schools with Hunter Pence

Did you know that kids who spend more time outside end up paying more attention inside? Trees and nature not only help kids concentrate, complete tasks, and follow directions, but they lower aggression and symptoms of ADHD. That is why I’ve teamed up with the Texas Tree Foundation to build a Cool Schools Green Learning Environment at a local elementary school in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. With your help, we can fund an entire outdoor learning area for a hands-on environmental learning experience to instill a good land ethic and to create a healthy environment. You could even join me for a Tree Planting Day this off-season!

The Facts:

• Dallas is warming at a faster rate than other large cities in the US, which means that kids are spending more time inside and less time outside.
• Texas Trees Foundation Cool Schools program aims to plant 80-100 trees at every Dallas ISD elementary school in order to create cooler, greener, and healthier school campuses.
• Over 1,000 students, staff and local community members are positively impacted by each Cool School Program.
• Every $1.00 donated provides nearly $6.00 in health, ecosystem and economic benefits.

The Plan:

• Join me and the Texas Trees Foundation to build brand new Cool Schools Program.
• In conjunction with the Texas Rangers Foundation, we will double your impact by matching every donation dollar for dollar up to $15,000.
• The first 50 people to donate $200 or more can join me for a Tree Planting Volunteer & Celebration Day* with the students and staff!
• The first 50 people to donate $50 or more will receive a signed Texas Rangers cap.

The Result: Once fully funded, the Cool Schools Program will provide –

• Tree Planting Volunteer & Celebration Day led by Hunter Pence
• Start to finish project coordination
• Green Team (teacher committee) facilitation
• Landscape design created by teachers, students, and parents
• Landscape installation, equipment, and technical assistance
• Landscape amenities (benches, boulders, etc.)
• Training and resources for teachers including STEM-based TEKS certified curriculum developed by Texas Trees & Interactive educational opportunities and activities
• Trees and shrubs with 1-year maintenance included
