Each year China ‘consumes’ millions of donkey hides.

On August 4th, 2019 #TeamOlivia will #Run4Rescue for 15 miles in Leadville, Colorado at the annual Pack Burro Race. Here's the catch - its not only high altitude for the Massachusetts based team but we will also run alongside donkeys that were once destined for slaughter and were saved by the Equine Rescue Network.

The Equine Rescue Network rescues between between 100-150 donkeys, horse and mules each year from slaughter. In 2018, we pulled 5 donkeys from the killpen in Texas and sent them directly to Colorado where they were trained to race in Pack Burro Races. In 2019, we sent an additional 4 to join the racing team in Colorado.

Each year, #TeamOlivia travels to Colorado to race with these rescued donkey in one of the 11 Pack Burro Races in small towns across Colorado. This year we have 7 #TeamOlivia runners who will run to raise donations and awareness to donkey slaughter.
