We are competing in the 2021 Penn State Lift for Life and need your help!

The 2021 Penn State Football Chapter Lift for Life is coming up and our team is proud to dedicate our performance in support of Uplifting Athletes and its mission to inspire the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport.

Lift For Life is a signature event held by fellow student-athletes at universities across the country. Our Lift for Life is scheduled for July 23rd.

Penn State is once again excited to inspire the Rare Disease Community with hope by holding a Lift For Life in 2021. Unfortunately, with ongoing safety concerns, Lift For Life will be closed to the public this year. The Nittany Lions are excited at the prospect of returning to a public Lift For Life event in the summer of 2022.

Fans and supporters can make a pledge for each repetition the Offensive Line averages of 225 bench press. Our goal is to average 19 reps during our Lift for Life competition.

The challenges faced by the Rare Disease Community are bigger than any one individual, team or organization can tackle alone. Here at Penn State we take pride in the opportunity to shine a spotlight on rare diseases and support Uplifting Athletes.

How you can help

The proceeds from our 2021 Lift for Life support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.

The Penn State Chapter

The Penn State Chapter is the charter Uplifting Athletes Chapter and served as the catalyst for what has become a nationwide movement. Penn State has run a Lift For Life every year since 2003. Uplifting Athletes was founded in 2003 when Scott Shirley’s father, Don, was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer and the doctors gave Mr. Shirley only six months to live. The Nittany Lion football team rallied around the idea of leveraging a summer strength and conditioning competition into a fundraising event called Lift For Life.

About Uplifting Athletes

A nonprofit organization founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes inspires the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and typically lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments. Uplifting Athletes fulfills its mission through a unique network of college football student-athlete led chapters, Uplifting Ambassadors and Team UA participants.

Since its inception, Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $5 million to support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.
