2nd Annual “More Than a Kick” Fundraiser
My Story
My name is Dean Janikowski, and I am the place kicker for Washington State University. I am currently studying my master’s in business administration here at Washington State University. I am from Fallbrook, California. I have one brother and one sister. I am a very active person who is committed to helping others. Growing up I have been around cancer most of my life. In November 2012 my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer given months to live. She had a double mastectomy followed by chemotherapy. The doctors were confident they got it all and after a lot of healing my mom was in remission in 2013. She remained in remission until 2018 when after extreme headaches they discovered that the breast cancer had metastasized to other parts of her body including her brain. After radiation treatment to her brain and immunotherapy she once again battled cancer back into remission in 2019. In 2020 it was again detected in her lung and back in the brain. She went through treatment again and after a lot of ups and downs she passed away on January 19th, 2022.
My Goal this year is to raise 30,000 dollars for a foundation me and my family started when my mom passed called the “Heather Janikowski Foundation.” The foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit Charitable Organization. 100% of the money goes to the recipient.
“The foundation The Heather Janikowski Foundation is committed to programs related to a healthy lifestyle for children, their families, and educators that embody and promote collaborations that help all children realize their full potential.” -HJF
Donations will be focused on helping those with cancer in the local community (Pullman, Spokane, Seattle)
