End Childhood Hunger with Kyle Long this season!

This season, with the help of my teammates, I’m inviting fans to help keep kids in Chicago healthy by making a pledge for every touchdown we score this season.

Make a pledge for every touchdown the Bears score during the 2016 season. Proceeds go to Kyle’s Dreambuilders program and its support of Blessings in a Backpack, which helps provide nutritious food for kids each weekend.

PLEDGE $1 OR MORE

When you make a pledge of at least $1 per touchdown or a flat donation of $25 or more, you will be entered to win a signed helmet. (Minimum donation of $25 for the season to be entered to win the drawing at the end of the season. Winner will be notified by email at the end of the season.)

PLEDGE $10 OR MORE

When you make a pledge of $10 or more or a flat donation of at least $300, you will receive a special invitation for two to Kyle Long’s Champions Reception on Monday, November 28, where you and a guest will meet Kyle and each get a special autographed gift and a photo. Complementary food and drinks will also be provided. (Minimum donation of at least $300 for the season to attend the reception. You will be contacted by email with your invitation to the event.

MATCHING PLEDGE

As an added bonus, all pledges will be matched up to $15,000 by Jewel Osco, the title sponsor of Kyle’s campaign.

Why It Matters?

Every Friday, 15.8 million children leave school uncertain if they will have food to eat this weekend. That is one in five kids. More than the populations of New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago combined. During the school week, these children are fed by the free and reduced meal program.

But what do these children eat on the weekends?

Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. Each week of the school year, Blessings in a Backpack and its thousands of volunteers and partners send a backpack of food home with children who, during the week, are fed by the free and reduced meal program. During the 2015-2016 school year, over 87,000 children receive a Blessings backpack each week with nearly 5,000 of those kids right here in the Chicagoland area.

Who Benefits?

Proceeds raised in the Kyle Long’s Scores for the Kids campaign will benefit three Chicago area elementary schools**:** Holy Angels, Maternity BVM, and St. Malachy. Located on the West Side of Chicago St. Malachy and Maternity BVM are both dedicated to teaching and nurturing young minds academically, socially, and spiritually. A majority of students at each St. Malachy and Maternity BVM qualify for the federally free and reduced meal program and there are over 400 children at these two schools fed by the Blessings in a Backpack program each weekend of the school year. Located in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago Holy Angels has served the city for more than 125 years. With over 500 students Holy Angels currently has 50 children in the Blessings in a Backpack program each weekend of the school year with many more students who qualify.
