Proceeds benefit Depression2Extinction
I’m from Russell, Ky and have only been running for a few years. I got into running as just exercise. It changed into more during my layoff from AK Steel, and it has since became an outlet for me. My first ultra was 6 days after my first marathon. Both of which were in fall of 2017. I have a son who has just turned 11 in March and who has autism. I dealt with depression as a teen. I learned to control it through self-talk and changing my mindset.
I have partnered with depression2exctionction in the hopes that the awareness it creates through sharing my story along with the money raised through programs like this could possibly helping just one person with their battle of depression. This is a very important cause for me as I faced depression as a young man and have bouts still.
My ultra running inspiration is former Navy SEAL David Goggins. As I look to my next challenge in the Big Turtle 50 miler I am excited, because I know there is a inner fight coming and I’m looking forward to it, I truly love finding new things about myself while suffering on a long run.
The goal for this race is to finish period.
