24 Hour Murph

If you don’t know me yet, I am Sam Parker; an Army veteran, Husband, Father, Friend, Paid on Call Firefighter and owner of CrossFit Grand Rapids (CFGR).

Each year at CrossFit Grand Rapids, we complete the Murph work out on Memorial Day to honor Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan in June 2005. The Murph work out consists of a 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 pushups, 300 squats and a 1 mile run all in a weighted vest.

CFGR has done a couple of fundraisers for Veterans organizations in the past, but this year I wanted to do a Fundraiser ON Veterans Day. As the owner of CFGR, I’m committing to doing 24 hours of the Murph work out on Veterans Day; beginning on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 9:00am (Veteran’s Day) and finishing Tuesday, November 12 at 9:00am. I will complete the Murph Challenge for as many rounds as possible within that 24 hour period. I know that this probably sounds crazy but with the help and support of my friends, family & CFGR community, I know that I can do this & push through to honor the men & women who have served our great country.

We have decided to partner with VetGR, a Nation leading destination located in Grand Rapids for post traumatic stress growth and reconstruction (PTSGR), and home to the Veterans Choice Index (VCI). VetGR is a 501c3 non-profit. So the money we raise will go to VetGR to change hundreds of lives of American veterans, first responders, and their families. Please know your donation will help resurrect significance and purpose in our Nations Hero’s once again!!

I am asking my friends, family and community to donate either a flat rate or a per/Murph amount towards this fundraiser. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!
