Tom Levee: Giving Back through Adventure and Perseverance

Tom Levee is a modern-day hero with a mission to give back to his community. As a board member of the Value Schools Foundation, he has undertaken two of the most challenging long-distance hikes in the country. In 2021, he hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, raising over $100,000 for Value Schools and their new Everest Value School building. In 2023, he will embark on the even more demanding Continental Divide Trail, covering a distance of over 3,100 miles from New Mexico to Glacier National Park in Montana.

Levee’s motivation for his arduous journeys is to embody the value of giving back. He aims to raise funds for scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors and 529 education investment accounts for incoming kindergarteners. Families who receive the 529 accounts will also have access to financial literacy classes to help plan for college. By taking on these challenges, Levee hopes to make a positive impact on the next generation’s future.

Levee’s journey will commence on March 30, 2023, at the southern border of New Mexico, and he will finish his trek at the northern border of Glacier National Park. His unwavering determination to give back and make a difference in the lives of others is what drives him forward.

Tom Levee is an inspiration to us all, showing us the power of giving back and making a remarkable difference in our community. We can learn from his selfless act of kindness and support him as he supports the students and families of Value Schools. You will have an opportunity to sponsor Tom on his trek, follow his progress, and encourage him as he takes on this challenging feat.

Tom at the Northern Terminus of the PCT in 2021

This photo was taken at the end of the PCT, but it wasn’t the end of my adventure. On 3/30/23, I will be starting on the Continental Divide Trail—hiking from Mexico to Canada again—but this time through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.

I kiddingly say the PCT was easy, knowing full well how hard it was. How many times I almost quit, how many times I burned more calories than I could eat, how many times I fell, how many shoes and blisters I burned through, and how many pains I endured. The CDT will be much tougher, but I can’t wait to start!

Again, I will be doing this trek for a good cause. On the PCT, with your help, we raised over $100,000 for Value School’s new Everest School building. On the CDT we are raising funds for scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors and 529 education investment accounts for incoming kindergarteners. Families who receive the 529 accounts will also have access to financial literacy classes to help plan for college.

Value Schools makes a difference in our community and I hope you will make a difference by contributing to my CDT fundraising trek. Your giving will inspire me to finish the trail as it did numerous times when I contemplated quitting the PCT. I hung in there because your support of the kids at Value Schools bolstered my personal resolve. And for that I thank you!
