The TGR team will be racing for Dustin Burkhalter, a US Army EOD member and Operation Motorsport beneficiary.
From Dustin "I enlisted in the Army in 2009 as an Infantryman and was assigned to A CO 2/327 101st ABN Div, I deployed to Afghanistan as an RTO/240B gunner from May 2010- May 2011. Upon returning from that deployment I reclassified as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician and attended NAVSCOLEOD at Eglin AFB, FL and graduated June 14 2013. Upon graduation I was assigned to the 797th OD Company (EOD), 79th OD Battalion (EOD) at Ft Hood, TX where I deployed twice to Kuwait, once as a EOD Team SGT and once as an EOD Team Leader. I volunteered to be reassigned to the 704th OD company (EOD) to deploy to Afghanistan as an EOD Team Leader in direct support of Special Forces units.
My motorsports experience is mostly basic maintenance stuff such as changing tires and brake pads, motor oil and filter changes, transmission fluid changes, differential fluid changes, and brake system bleeding. I am currently in the process of bringing an out of date Spec Miata up to the current specifications to be able to race it in NASA or SCCA SM class, so far the most difficult modification has been changing it to the new spec shocks for the class and updating small safety items (belts, window net). I have attended approx. 15 HPDE weekends in my previous car. "
These drivers will do their best to race hard and complete as many laps as possible to help aid in the recovery and rehabilitation of these US/Canadian heros!
