Support Kids in Gaza and Donkeysaddle Projects

FOR THOSE WHO MISSED THE OFFICIAL END OF THE CAMPAIGN BUT STILL WANT TO CONTRIBUTE! https://www.donkeysaddle.org/p...

Many of you supported my past fundraising hikes as we raised money for medical care in Gaza as well as DSP’s vital work. I hiked the 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail (from the settler colonial borders of Canada to Mexico) from 2017-2021, finishing last year on my 50th birthday. I completed this trek just weeks before the death of my father on July 24.

This summer, I start my new fundraising quest– to summit all the mountain peaks that lie along the PCT. I am beginning this quest with an attempt to reach the top of Mt Baker (Kulshan, in native Lummi) in the North Cascade mountain range. At 10,786 feet, Mt Baker/Kulshan is the third highest mountain in Washington, and (after Mt Rainier/Tahoma), has the heaviest glacier cover. If all goes according to plan, I will reach the summit July 24, just after sunrise–marking exactly one year since losing my dad.

I chose to summit Baker/Kulshan on the one-year anniversary of my father’s passing intentionally, to honor my dad while raising critically needed funds. (I plan to also summit Mt Adams later in the summer, as part of this quest.)

Your pledge will support:

Abdallah:

Abdallah is a 13-year-old boy in Gaza who has a rare chest and lung disease which is potentially life-threatening. I first met Abdallah in 2015 when I was reporting in Gaza for Al Jazeera America.

Mohammed:

Mohammed is a 16-year-old boy in Gaza who was shot above the knee by an Israeli sniper, severing his nerve and leading to the amputation of his leg. I first met Mohammed in early 2019 when I was reporting in Gaza for +972Magazine.

Your donations will provide the majority of the funds to ensure the kids’ medical and health needs for the next year. It will also support Donkeysaddle Projects vital work in the world, which you can lean more about on our website.
