This season, I've joined forces with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City to support their mission of creating life-changing friendships between children facing adversity and caring, adult mentors.

This charity is near and dear to my heart and as baseball fans, I'm asking for your support. There are nearly 500 children in Kansas City waiting to be matched to a Big Brother, Big Sister or Big Couple. Over the past few years, I've made it my mission to find more mentors for the organization. This year, I've decided to up the ante and double my efforts by helping find more Bigs AND by raising money for this worthy organization.

There are two ways you can help and Step Up Big!

1. Be a Big! You can become a Big to one of the 500 waiting children currently on the wait list. Being a Big is simply being a friend to a child who wants and needs a mentor in their life. By simply spending time with them, you will be making a big difference. Click here to sign up.

2. Make a Pledge! Pledge any dollar amount for every double I hit this season or make a one-time donation. Your donation will go directly toward helping match children in Kansas City with their new Big.

I am personally matching the first 100 donations made to the Step Up Big campaign this season, doubling the effort to help kids who need a role model in their life.
