Penn State has seven starters back from a defense that was ranked No. 1 overall in the Big Ten and Top 10 in the country last season.
With a couple monsters in the middle up front on defense in veteran tackles Anthony Zettel and Austin Johnson to lead the charge, the Penn State Chapter of Uplifting Athletes is looking to use quarterback sacks during the 2015 season to make a difference in the rare disease community.
For all 12 games this season each quarterback sack the Nittany Lions defense registers will benefit the Penn State Chapter’s efforts to raise awareness of and research funds for the rare disease kidney cancer.
The Penn State Chapter and President Ben Kline is asking its fans to support the student-athlete led Uplifting Athletes Chapter by making a pledge to help the Nittany Lions sack kidney cancer.
Uplifting Athletes is a national non-profit organization with 25 chapters that support our mission to make a positive and lasting impact on the rare disease community through the power of college football.
Penn State is the original Uplifting Athletes Chapter that started as Lift For Life in 2003. Since its inception more than a decade ago, the Penn State Chapter has raised more than $1.1 million in the fight against kidney cancer.
