Penn State Chapter Touchdown Pledge Drive '19, Where Every Nittany Lion Score Means More!
The student-athlete led Penn State Chapter of Uplifting Athletes is using college football as a platform to shine a spotlight on the Rare Disease Community by holding a Touchdown Pledge Drive throughout the month of October.
During Touchdown Pledge Drive month, the Penn State Nittany Lions play home games against Purdue and Michigan and travel to Iowa and Michigan State. Fans can support the Nittany Lions by making a pledge for each touchdown they score in all four games. We are projecting our team to score 12 touchdowns total! As the games unfold, watch and cheer as each touchdown scored helps raise money to support the Rare Disease Community.
The proceeds from our 2019 Touchdown Pledge Drive support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its commitment to create Uplifting Experiences, fund Rare Disease Research, and expand Rare Disease Awareness.

The Penn State Chapter
The Penn State Chapter is the charter Uplifting Athletes Chapter and served as the catalyst for what has become a nationwide movement. Penn State has run a Lift For Life every year since 2003. Uplifting Athletes was founded in 2003 when Scott Shirley’s father, Don, was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer and the doctors gave Mr. Shirley only six months to live. The Nittany Lion football team rallied around the idea of leveraging a summer strength and conditioning competition into a fundraising event called Lift For Life®.

A nonprofit organization founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes inspires the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport. Uplifting Athletes fulfills its mission through a network of college football student-athlete led chapters, Uplifting Ambassadors and Team UA participants that support our charitable programs: Uplifting Leaders, Uplifting Experiences, Rare Disease Research and Rare Disease Awareness.
