MoCo Pride Pledge

My partner and I live in downtown Silver Spring and have witnessed street proselytizers using microphones and amplifiers to spew hateful anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric blocks from our home. Recently, this became an even more personal issue for us as we were targeted and verbally harassed on the basis of our gender and sexuality. You can view video of the incident. While we know that there are legislative and/or policy solutions in the works, we’re launching this campaign in the hopes that we can come together as neighbors and do what we can to help keep Montgomery County a safe place for LGBTQ+ people to call home.

Each day anti-LGBTQIA+ protesters show up to spread hate in Montgomery County, you will be charged your pledge amount, and all funds will go to the MoCo Pride Center. There are several different groups of anti-LGBTQ+ protesters who typically show up 2-3 days per week in downtown Silver Spring.

Protesters will know that their presence is in fact raising funds to protect and support the very people they are attacking. (You can also choose to make one flat donation.) The MoCo Pride Center is the consortium of LGBTQIA+ service, advocacy and arts & culture organizations that serve Montgomery County, Maryland and the region.
