Boys & Girls of Harrisburg need our help!

Due to school and organizational closures, children of Harrisburg have missed out on the caring mentoring, after school programming, and more than 10,500 meals provided by the Boys and Girls Club.  Celebrities, community leaders and volunteers across the region are teaming up to read aloud and raise money to support the educational and social enrichment of the children of Harrisburg.

That's why I personally pledged to read at least 10 books, and my friends wanted to help do even more. Team Marissa has pledged to record ourselves reading 30 books from the approved Summer Reading List. We plan to delight the boys and girls with readings from special guests such as professional athletes, teachers, musicians, business leaders and more.

Help us lead the effort to give back to the boys and girls of Harrisburg!   Click here to watch us climb the Read-A-Thon Fundraising Leaderboard and watch our videos as they are shared on the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg Facebook Page.

In addition to creating unique educational content for the kids, you can help by pledging a donation per book that I read and record. **We set a goal of $100 per book. **The funds will support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harrisburg to providing caring mentors and new summer programming to help children in our community develop essential skills for academic success, good character, citizenship and a healthy lifestyle.

The stay-at-home orders are challenging for all of us, but as Mason Cooley once said, “Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are!”
