As a pitcher at Boston College, I was deeply impacted by my relationship with our Director of Baseball Operations, Pete Frates. Pete is everything to everyone who has ever worn the BC uniform. You see, Pete has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease), but he never let that define him or get him down. He was always the one telling us to keep our heads up and stay positive. He showed us that if he can make the best out of his situation, then we can deal with what we’re going through in our daily lives.
