He served in 10th Mountain Division (Light) out of Fort Drum, NY where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He later joined the United States Army National Guard in 2007 where he continued his service as a FISTER. From there he deployed to Bahrain in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He has served in Infantry units in both the New York and North Carolina National Guard in various roles, culminating as a Battalion Fire Support Non-Commissioned Officer. Staff Sergeant William Babineau suffers from mental health issues resulting from his deployment to Iraq as well as ankle trauma as a result of his service. He has completed his medical retirement from the U.S. Army, and resides in Ft. Drum, NY with his wife who is currently serving, and their two kids.
