Illinois Volleyball Lift For Life 2023: Team Caroline

The Illinois Volleyball Chapter Lift for Life is coming up and our team is proud to dedicate our performance in support of Uplifting Athletes. Uplifting Athletes is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which harnesses the power of sport to build community and invest in the lives of those impacted by rare disease.

Lift For Life is Uplifting Athletes’ signature event held by student-athletes at colleges and universities across the country. Our event is scheduled for July 21.

The challenges faced by the rare community are bigger than any one individual, team, or organization can tackle alone. Here at Illinois, we take pride in the opportunity to shine a spotlight on rare diseases and support Uplifting Athletes so that no person feels alone.

Supporting our Lift for Life is simple! Fans can pledge for each second our team holds the trap bar. Our goal is to combine for a total of 120 seconds during the event.

The Illinois Chapter

The student-athlete-led Illinois Chapter serves the rare disease community in honor of Andrew Carter, a former Illini offensive lineman who battled the rare disease acoustic neuroma in 2011. Carter never played football again, but his fight inspired the Illinois football program to help tackle rare diseases. Illinois volleyball was inspired by the work the football program has done and took the initiative to get their team on board. The 2023 Lift for Life will be Illinois volleyball’s first event with Uplifting Athletes.
