How Far I can Go

I am Patrik Gullerstrom, a Cosmologist that works with IT-security and cloud . A father of three beautiful princesses and live outside Stockholm, Sweden. I have partnered with depression2extinction as an Ambassador Athlete because through my running I have experienced the effect of movement on my mental wellbeing. Since I’ve been doing ultras I’ve found out a lot about myself. I have become more self aware. And if I can help an organization that is helping people get moving it would be awesome. I strongly believe that you will get not just physical benefits from exercise but, mental health/development will come as well.

For me it’s all about the mental challenge. To battle yourself, find power you didn’t think you had. You learn a lot about yourself when you only have your thoughts as a companion for 24hrs.

It’s the first time I do a backyard race. The track is 6.7km (4.17 Miles), start every hour, until there is just one left at the start line. I’m running this race together with my wife. It’s one a the few races that we can actually run together. We only have to complete the loop within an hour. We will run together for as many laps she can muster. After that I’m on my own. She will still be at the side supporting me after she is done. I’m going to do as many laps as possible. We have bought a tent for my wife and are only going to bring one sleeping bag (for her)…

I’m also an ambassador for the “Berlin Mauerweglauf” Mauerweglauf translate to “wall road race”, it’s a race that goes where the Berlin wall stood until November 9th, 1989. This race is honoring and remembering everyone that tried to flee from East Berlin and was killed. I think it’s important that we do not forget that there was a time when people weren’t free to move around in Europe. We should always strive to open borders, not close them!
