Proceeds are being collected by William Loevner
My name is Will Loevner and I’m a 24 year old ultra endurance off road racer from Pittsburgh, PA. I started bike racing 4 years ago after running on Penn State’s track and cross country team. From the first time I got on a bike I always wanted to go faster and farther than before, leading me to specialize in the ultra endurance discipline.
In 2020 I planned on focusing on 100k mountain bike races but after racing one 100k I switched to 100 miles, but kept wanting more. I rode the 101 mile Wilderness 101 National Ultra Endurance series course twice in one day, but still wanted to push myself further. This lead me to attempt to ride the Wilderness 101 course 3 times in a row, which was over 303 miles and took me 32 hours to complete. “The Wilderness 303” as I called it, had over 32,500 feet of climbing over some of the most rugged singletrack in Pennsylvania.
After the Wilderness 303 I raced one of the biggest gravel races in the world -Unbound XL 350- and placed second after crashing during the night and riding the last 150 miles with a broken hand. This experience opened up my mind on how much deeper I could push myself and lead me to sign up for my first 24 hour race at the WEMBO National Solo Mountain Bike Championship, which was less than 5 weeks after breaking my hand. Leading into the race I had to ride with a splint on my left hand but on race day I got cleared by the doctor to race without the splint. I was able to win the championship with a course record 23 laps and covered close to 270 miles of singletrack. Since then I completed the Leadville 100/ Breck Epic double, first gravel crossing of PA and back, and set the FKT on the 250 mile Rockstar Gravel route.
My goal for the Mountain Bike Solo World Championships is to represent the USA and go for the win against the best in the world. Your generous donation will help my support crew and me get to Italy and help me perform to my maximum potential.
