I'm participating in the 2019 Run for the Cure. Support my fundraiser!

Friends and family,

As many of you know, the annual Run for the Cure in Eldorado Springs was started in 1979 by my father in response to my mother’s cancer diagnosis. What started as a means of bringing friends and family together in a positive and empowering way has blossomed into one of the true treasures of our community.

This year marks the 40th anniversary, making it the oldest continuously running benefit run in Colorado and one of the oldest in the US. To commemorate this achievement and to further support the important work of the Colorado Cancer Foundation, I am inviting family and friends to make a pledge per mile or make a one-time flat donation.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity. As always, your presence is the biggest gift of all and we hope you can join us personally for this year’s event (see event link below)!

P.S. My campaign is in honor of my mother, Marilyn “Mimi” Havlick - a true inspiration to so many people and living proof that miracles can and do happen. You can keep track of my fundraising progress on the Run for the Cure Leaderboard.

Lastly, I know the cause is deeply personal for so many of you. Feel free to donate or campaign in honor of someone you love.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE RUN FOR THE CURE

Founded in 1980, the Eldorado Run for the Cure is the longest operating footrace in the State of Colorado. All proceeds from the annual four-mile run benefit the Colorado Cancer Foundation’s life saving work, e.g., aiding oncology patients, researchers, and physicians at the University of Colorado’s Division of Medical Oncology. Community hospitals and treatment centers in rural Colorado also benefit from the CCF’s donations, and in select cases, patients in need of immediate care can be flown to the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO for time sensitive procedures.

EVENT INFORMATION

Each year the 4.0 mile course begins and ends at the Eldorado Springs Pool, located at 294 Artesian Drive, Eldorado Springs, CO 80025. This year the event is on August 2, 2019. The out and back course takes runners through the entrance of Eldorado Canyon State Park, where steep cliff walls shelter a gently flowing stream. About a half mile into the run, the canyon walls gives way to rolling hills and open fields with spectacular views of the State Park as runners return to the starting line. Upon finishing the short yet challenging course, participants are treated to catered food and drink as part of the post run festivities.
