Dallan’s Touchdowns to Tackle Illiteracy 2021

He’s back! After a successful inaugural year raising more than $20,000 to help tackle illiteracy, Dallan Hayden returns for his final season at Christian Brothers High School before heading north to The Ohio State University!

Dallan Hayden understands that education is key to success in the classroom and on the field. He knows the hard work and effort required to learn to read. Because first, you learn to read, then you read to learn. Too many are missing these essential skills leading to missed opportunities to compete on the field and in the game of life.

Did you know 1 in 4 children grow up without learning to read? Dallan is committing this season to Coaching for Literacy, an organization that raises awareness about illiteracy and provides grants to literacy programs across the country. With his next stop in Ohio, this campaign will also support The 2nd & 7 Foundation to promote reading and positive role models to students in Columbus. For every touchdown Dallan scores, a donation will be made to support Coaching for Literacy and The 2nd & 7 Foundation’s efforts. All funds will be divided evenly between the two organizations.

Dallan is scoring to create opportunities for kids by giving them a chance to read. Will you join him to tackle illiteracy? Let’s get Dallan from the 901 (Memphis) to 614 (Columbus) with a win for kids learning to read everywhere!!

It’s 587 miles from Memphis to Columbus, so let’s have some fun with this:

• Pledge $5.87 per touchdown this season
• Pledge to read 587 minutes this fall (58.7 minutes a week for 10 weeks)
• Sign up to be a fundraiser (click “Become a Fundraiser” below) with a goal to raise $587
