Proceeds are being collected by Cat Runner
Based on 130 mile, each worth $15.60
My name is Cat and I’m a transgender athlete. I came out in 2013 and since then, “128 transgender people have been reported victims of fatal violence in the United States,” according to the Human Rights Campaign. The majority of these people have been transgender women of color.
A year after coming out, I was able to begin my medical transition - starting testosterone and having top surgery - with the support of my parents and peers. Top surgery has allowed me to return to activities I love with a confidence and comfortability that I never had before. Since then, I found my love for rock climbing again and a new passion for obstacle course races.
2019 is my biggest race season yet and I want to use it as an opportunity to give back to my community. This season, I want to run at least 128 miles of Spartan obstacle course races in respect and remembrance of those who have lost their lives by fatal violence against my community. The last event in my season is the Spartan ULTRA - 30+ miles and 60 obstacles - which I will be running specifically in respect to those we lost in 2018.
All the money raised will be donated to Point of Pride, a non-profit organization started by Aydian Dowling. Point of Pride gives back to the transgender community in numerous ways, such as their binder donation program, transgender scholarship program, and just being a transgender resource.
Thank you so much if you’re able to donate to this campaign and please consider sharing it as I would much rather it reach many and bring awareness to the perpetual violence against transgender people than to raise a lot of money.
