Based on 16 completed trips, each worth $387.50
In April of 2019, due to unrest and protests in the area, the Maji Mazuri Headstart School in Nairobi, Kenya burned to the ground. The children and staff were evacuated safely, but the school lost its buildings, furniture, text books, and all other supplies. With a population of 571 pupils the school works daily to empower and impact the lives of the children from Mathare Valley slum and beyond. The school provides not only an education to these children but also daily meals, safety, and community that aren’t provided elsewhere. Maji Mazuri has an urgent need to provide a solid structure and the materials needed to be able to keep providing for our children.
29029 is a athletic mountain climbing event taking place in Stratton Mtn, VT. Those who participate will attempt to climb Stratton Mountain a total of 17 times in 36 hours to reach 29,029 vertical feet, the vertical equivalent of Mt. Everest (29,029 feet).
I will be attempting to complete the 29029 challenge October 18th - 19th. I originally signed up for this event as a personal challenge. When the Headstart School burned, I saw an opportunity to bring awareness and raise funds for an organization that has always been close to my heart.
Those who know me well, know of my deep connection to Maji Mazuri and its founder, Wanjiku Kironyo. I ask that you, if you are able, you help me in supporting the rebuild of The Headstart School by sponsoring my 29029 climb. You can either donate by lump sum or pledge a donation per each trip up the mountain. I hope you consider donating to this worthy cause. Please feel free to message me to call me with any questions you might have!
With Love, Lauren
