Ranked 1 of 8 fundraisers - $85 raised by 2 supporters
Hi friends and family - I am excited to be a part of our first annual Lift for Life. Our goal is to raise money, but more importantly, inspire hope in the rare disease community through the platform we are blessed to have as football players. Any and all help is much appreciated. God bless!!
The 2019 Western Michigan Chapter Lift for Life is coming up and Team 6 is proud to dedicate our performance in support of Uplifting Athletes and its mission to inspire the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport.
Fans and supporters can make a pledge for the average number of bench press reps Team 6 knocks out. Our goal is an average of 10 reps during our Lift for Life competition.
Lift For Life is the signature fundraising event for the Western Michigan Chapter. Lift for Life is an event held by our fellow college football student-athlete brothers at other universities across the country who have joined the Uplifting Athletes nationwide network of chapters.
Our Lift for Life is scheduled for June 28 in the weight room at the Seelye Athletic Center. The event is private this year.
The challenges faced by the Rare Disease Community are bigger than any one individual, team or organization can tackle alone. Here at Western Michigan we take pride in the opportunity to shine a spotlight on rare diseases and support Uplifting Athletes.
How you can help
The proceeds from our 2019 Lift for Life support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.
The Western Michigan University football program started tackling rare diseases in 2018 when Broncos Jamauri Bogan and Justin Tranquill founded the chapter. The 2018 Touchdown Pledge Drive was the Broncos’ first event to support the Rare Disease Community. Western Michigan also hosted a Rare Disease Awareness Game against Syracuse to open the 2018 season. Earlier this year Bogan, a former WMU star running back, participated in the 2019 Uplifting Athletes Reps For Rare Diseases campaign.
A nonprofit organization founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes inspires the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and typically lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments.
Uplifting Athletes fulfills its mission through a unique network of college football student-athlete led chapters, Uplifting Ambassadors and Team UA participants. Since its inception, Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $4.5 million in support of the Rare Disease Community with a third of that, $1.5 million, given to fund rare disease research.
Thank you for your support of the Western Michigan Chapter and the Rare Disease Community. Every little bit helps. Please don’t forget to share this campaign and your support on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
