Make a difference this year and support kids in Washington!

This season, with the help of my teammates, I’m inviting fans to help kids in Washington DC by supporting the Sacks for Kids challenge.

Make a pledge for every sack the Redskins record during the 2016 season. Proceeds will go to Trent’s Dreambuilders program and its support of City Year.

PLEDGE $1 OR MORE

When you make a pledge of at least $1 per sack or a flat donation of $30 or more, you will be entered to win a signed helmet. (Minimum donation of $30 for the season to be entered to win the drawing at the end of the season. Winner will be notified by email at the end of the season.)

PLEDGE $10 OR MORE

When you make a pledge of $10 per sack or more or a flat donation of at least $300, you will receive a special invitation for two to Trent Murphy’s Champions Reception, where you and a guest will meet Trent and each get a special autographed gift and a photo. Complementary food and drinks will also be provided. (Minimum donation of at least $300 for the season to attend the reception. You will be contacted by email with your invitation to the event.)

Who Benefits?

City Year is an education-focused, non-profit organization that works to end the high school drop-out crisis by deploying young AmeriCorps volunteers (called corps members) to high-need urban schools for full-time tutoring and mentoring of off-track students. As tutors, mentors, and role models, these young leaders – all between the ages of 17 and 25 – make a difference in the lives of children all day, every day for an entire year and help transform schools in Washington, DC. City Year envisions a country where all students are in school and on track to graduate from high school, regardless of their race, income level, or zip code. City Year’s main strategy to keep students on track to graduate is to recruit diverse corps members to serve as full-time tutors and mentors to deliver the Whole School, Whole Child program in high-need urban schools.

Founded in 2000 with 32 corps members, City Year Washington, DC now has 189 AmeriCorps members serving 6,500 students in 18 schools during the 2016-2017 school year. City Year’s Whole School, Whole Child program ensures that students receive the support they need to stay in school and on-track to graduate and helps to transform schools in Washington, DC, across the United States, and abroad.
