We are competing in the 2019 Syracuse Lift for Life and need your help!

The 2019 Syracuse Chapter Lift for Life is coming up and Team Ruff is proud to dedicate our performance in support of Uplifting Athletes and its mission to inspire the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport.

Fans and supporters can make a pledge for each rep our team averages of 225 pound bench press. Our team goal is to bench 12 reps each during our Lift for Life competition.

Team Ruff consists of the following members of the 2019 Syracuse football team: Andre Cisco, Evan Adams, Trishton Jackson, Markenzy Pierre, Cam Jordan, Russell Thompson-Bishop, Taj Harris, Ryan Kisselstein, Andre Szmyt, Drew Gunther, Kevon Darton, and KJ Ruff.

Lift For Life is the signature fundraising event for the Syracuse Chapter. Lift for Life is an event held by our fellow college football student-athlete brothers at other universities across the country who have joined the Uplifting Athletes nationwide network of chapters.

Our Lift for Life is scheduled for July 18th at Manley Field House from 5-7 pm. The event will be open to the public.

The challenges faced by the Rare Disease Community are bigger than any one individual, team or organization can tackle alone. Here at Syracuse we take pride in the opportunity to shine a spotlight on rare diseases and support Uplifting Athletes.

How you can help

The proceeds from our 2019 Lift for Life support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.

The Syracuse Chapter

The Syracuse Chapter started tackling rare diseases in 2013 when it joined Uplifting Athletes. The student-athlete led Syracuse Chapter serves the Rare Disease Community in honor of Rob Long, a former Orange punter and team captain.

Long was diagnosed with a rare malignant brain tumor and battled through his rare disease to make a full recovery. Long continues to be a strong rare disease advocate as the Director, Rare Disease Engagement for Uplifting Athletes.

About Uplifting Athletes

A nonprofit organization founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes inspires the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and typically lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments.

Uplifting Athletes fulfills its mission through a unique network of college football student-athlete led chapters, Uplifting Ambassadors and Team UA participants. Since its inception, Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $4.5 million in support of the Rare Disease Community with a third of that, $1.5 million, given to fund rare disease research.

Thank You!

Thank you for your support of the Syracuse Chapter and the Rare Disease Community. Every little bit helps. Please don’t forget to share this campaign and your support on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
