Stony Brook Touchdown Pledge Drive 2017

The student-athlete led Stony Brook Chapter of Uplifting Athletes is using college football as a platform to shine a spotlight on the rare disease community by holding a Touchdown Pledge Drive.

For the home game against Towson on September 23rd, fans can support the 2017 Stony Brook Seawolves by making a pledge for each touchdown they score.

The proceeds from our 2017 Touchdown Pledge Drive support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.

The Stony Brook Chapter

The Stony Brook Chapter started tackling rare diseases in 2014 when we joined Uplifting Athletes. Our inspiration came from a long-term relationship between our head football coach Chuck Priore and a rare disease patient, Joey Feminella.

Coach Priore and Joey developed a close, personal relationship that continues to serve as an inspiration for our entire team. Lift for Life event is our main fundraiser in support of raising research dollars for the rare disease community.

Uplifting Athletes is a national nonprofit that inspires the rare disease community with hope through the power of sport and empowers medical researchers to find cures. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and consequently lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments. Founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes has college football student-athlete led chapters nationwide in FBS and FCS programs including half the schools in the Big Ten and ACC conferences.
