Pistons Black History Month Blue Bucket Challenge

For each Pistons field goal during the month of February, $50 will be donated on behalf of HAP to Prostate Cancer Foundation. Please join HAP and the Pistons in saving lives by making your pledge.

By the time you read this page, another man will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. It happens every 3 minutes. One man dies every 17 minutes from prostate cancer in the United States. African American men are at an increased risk for developing prostate cancer over white men and other men of color. One in six African American men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime. Overall, African American men are 1.8 times more likely to be diagnosed with—and 2.2 times more likely to die from—prostate cancer than white men. African American men are also more likely than white men to be diagnosed with advanced disease.

When caught and treated early, prostate cancer has a survival rate of over 99%. Fortunately, the racial divide for prostate cancer outcomes is narrowing, but there is much work to be done. That is why, in recognition and honor of Black History Month, HAP and the Pistons are teaming up to save lives! On behalf of HAP, $50 will be donated to Prostate Cancer Foundation for every field goal that the team records during our 11 games in February. All of the funding from the Pistons Blue Bucket Challenge will stay in Michigan. Please take Blue Bucket Challenge with us. Make your pledge and help turn our buckets into dollars to save lives!
