Proceeds benefit Wayne County Children's Cancer Fund
The Border Bowl football game has a long history, deep in tradition and rivalry. Each year the Eagles and Red Raiders go head to head to win “the axe” to display in their school for the year. The axe is up for grabs once again when the Pal-Mac Red Raiders host the Wayne Eagles on September 2, 2016 at 7 pm.
Last year both teams used their rivalry to raise more than $9,000 for childhood cancer with PLEDGE IT and other community fundraisers. This year both teams are back again to fight to drop the axe on Children’s Cancer. They are asking for supporters to select their team and pledge per point to support Wayne County Children’s Cancer Fund, a local non-profit agency supporting families in Wayne County who have a child affected by Children’s Cancer.
WCCCF has supported numerous families over the years with specialized needs based on each family’s particular circumstances. They have provided assistance with many things including gas, gifts for the children, food, insurance copayments, funeral expenses and much more. Currently WCCCF is supporting 7 local families in Wayne County. Check out their website at waynecountykids.com for more information on the charity and the families they are currently supporting. The team who raises the most money for WCCCF will win the campaign’s Gold Ribbon to display for the entire year in their school!
