Modeltowner Basketball

Gwinn High School is a small Class C public school located in the central part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A few years ago we won our first district championship in 17 years. We advanced to the regional championship game before losing to the eventual state champion. It was the farthest our team has advanced since we were state runner up in 1996.

Within the past year, our school district has fallen on some hard times financially. To offset the budget deficit the school board has decided to cut $65,000 from the athletic budget. Because of this decision our program has become self-funded (in the best case scenario, partially self-funded) for the next 2-3 years. This means we have to help offset transportation costs, game officials, jerseys, warm-up jerseys, basketballs, to name a few. I am hoping this campaign will help us in offsetting these costs and allow our season and our program to move forward without any major financial issues.
