Michael Taylor - Getting a Jump on Rare Diseases

I’m excited to launch my 2021 Get a Jump on Rare Diseases campaign! I hope you will join me as I help Uplifting Athletes bring awareness to the 1 in 10 Americans living with a rare disease.

The goal of Uplifting Athletes is a pursuit that really hits home for me. My sister, Danielle, was born with Trisomy 18, a condition that has fewer than 20,000 cases per year. Danielle was strong, tough and full of joy. At birth, doctors gave her only three months to live. Contrary to all expectations and to the amazement of many doctors, she lived 20 years filled with smiles and laughter.

To honor Danielle and the battle so many others face, let’s come together to raise money and fund rare disease research to help find a cure for Trisomy 18 and thousands of other rare diseases that affect so many of our loved ones. I will be giving my all on the diamond to support the rare disease community with every stolen base this season. I will pledge $2,000 for each base I steal and invite you to join me this season to make every stolen base in 2021 matter more for those battling rare diseases!

Uplifting Athletes, a nonprofit organization founded in 2007, inspires the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport. Since 2007, Uplifting Athletes has raised nearly $6 Million to developing Uplifting Leaders, create Uplifting Experiences, fund rare disease research and expand rare disease awareness.
