Based on 1 Touchdown worth $700
The student-athlete led Maryland Chapter of Uplifting Athletes is using college football as a platform to shine a spotlight on the rare disease community by holding a Touchdown Pledge Drive.
For the home game against Central Florida on September 23rd, fans can support the 2017 MarylandTerrapins by making a pledge for each touchdown they score.
The proceeds from our 2017 Touchdown Pledge Drive support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.
Please join our team as we tackle rare diseases by making your pledge today and click here to view the leaderboard and see where we rank against other Uplifting Athletes chapters!
The Maryland Chapter started tackling rare diseases in 2009 when it joined Uplifting Athletes. The student-athlete led Maryland Chapter serves the rare disease community in honor of former Terrapins quarterback Boomer Esiason. His son, Gunnar, lives with the rare disease cystic fibrosis and his battle served as the inspiration for Maryland to join Uplifting Athletes.
Uplifting Athletes is a national nonprofit that inspires the rare disease community with hope through the power of sport and empowers medical researchers to find cures. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and consequently lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments. Founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes has college football student-athlete led chapters nationwide in FBS and FCS programs including half the schools in the Big Ten and ACC conferences.
Thank you for your support of the Maryland Chapter and the rare disease community. Every little bit helps. Please don’t forget to share our Touchdown Pledge Drive campaign and your support on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
