Garden Oak Holiday Lights started as a simple Christmas light display at our home in 2012 and has been a magical display of lights morphing to holiday music ever since. Despite the expense, no one has ever been charged to see the display. Because a family member of the owner was diagnosed with cancer that first year, 100% of any donations made during the Christmas show are donated to Cancer Research. The name of the show, Garden Oak Holiday Lights, is named after the street they live on.
Because of the overwhelming popularity of the Garden Oak Holiday Lights Christmas display, it was decided in 2017 to move the display to a new location after the 2019 season. We formed as a 501 (c)(3) charity in 2018 and are a 100% volunteer based organization. Our plan, once funds are raised, is to build a new venue, purpose built, to host the annual Christmas light display and other annual events. Unlike the current “drive up and watch from your car display” that we currently have, this new venue will allow guests to park, walk into the new venue and enjoy the show.
The funds donated or pledged during this campaign will be used to build our new venue, a “Christmas Town Square”. This elaborate “Hollywood” set, decorated as an old world town, will be our canvas for our lights. Your support will help build the new venue which will be used to continue to be used to host the Christmas light show, and other events. Once the new venue is built, 100% of any donations collected during the Christmas light show will continue go to Cancer Research.
To make this a fun campaign, we are pledging based on how many cookies Santa can eat. The maximum cookies Santa can eat is 1000 cookies. Simply look at the pledge amounts estimated and that is what you will donate if we meet our goal. We are hoping for a total of $400,000 to be pledged, however, if we are close, we will proceed with processing the pledges. If we are not even close, we will close the campaign without charging your cards.
