Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 collegiate women at Howard University. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. These major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust. Sanford Alumnae Chapter, a local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has accepted the challenge to promote events and programs based on this Five-Programmatic Thrust.

The thrust that we are highlighting for this event is Physical and Mental Health. Annually, Sanford Alumnae Chapter prides itself in bringing awareness to the Seminole County community by encouraging a behavioral lifestyle change for the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of African-American families. This year Sanford Alumnae Chapter and Seminole Delta Foundation are hosting a walk-a-thon, Stepping in the Name of Love Rewind, and we are going to need your support! All proceeds from this walk-a-thon will go towards the Sanford Alumnae Chapter’s continued support for national and local initiatives. You can support this event by donating to your favorite Delta for each mile that they walk from March 23-29, 2020.
