AIM Walks for Kids

Help us support children who have an incarcerated mother

$17,377Raised of $15,000

Your support ensures incarcerated moms and their children maintain strong bonds

AIM Mission: To provide services for Alabama’s incarcerated women with emphasis on enhancing personal growth and strengthening the bonds between inmate mothers and their children.

At least 80% of incarcerated women have children and many kids do not have the resources to visit with their mothers. The guardians--often an elderly grandmother--struggle to support the unexpected family. AIM believes that to help the children, you must also help the Moms, since most Moms intend to retake custody when they are released. AIM helps by providing child-friendly visits. We help Moms read books on video and send them to the kids. We provide kids with school supplies and uniforms. We provide Parenting Education, Job and Life Skills classes in prison And we don’t just help during incarceration, we help when the Moms come home—through our group home and our reentry assistance. Our budget is tight, and there aren’t many sponsors for these programs--not always a popular group to support—but it is essential to help these families so that we can help stop the cycle of incarceration.
