Promoting the Rehabilitation of Disabled Veterans & First Responders Through Adaptive Sports

The Downhill Derelicts are at it again. In collaboration with the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program (WASP), our 2019 “Today We Ride” campaign is directly funding programs and activities to serve those that have served us. And this year, PledgeIt is offering their platform completely free of charge, so 100% of your donations and pledges go directly to WASP programs.

Our efforts and your contributions will be funding WASP’s Hawkes Program, a rehabilitative program designed to introduce injured veterans to winter and summer adaptive sports and to meet other veterans suffering from physical and mental health injuries. Founded by Special Forces veteran and WASP volunteer Ben Mead, the Hawkes program is named in honor of Ben’s close friend & veteran Scott Lewis Boyd Hawkes who suffered from PTSD and passed in August, 2016.

Over the past two years, through the generosity of many family, friends, colleagues, and sponsors, the Downhill Derelicts have raised more than $55,000 for adaptive sports programs. This year our goal is to raise $45,000 for veterans and first responders.

Sponsor a Downhill Derelict of your choice, or pick more than one, and pledge as little as 1-cent ($.01) per 100-vertical feet they ski or snowboard in the 2019 ‘Today We Ride’ challenge, a five-day competition to ride as many vertical feet as they can, all in support of WASP and veterans. You can also opt to make a one-time flat donation. Either way, the Downhill Derelicts are going to earn every penny through sweat, grit, and with quadriceps on fire by weeks’ end to give back to those who have given the most. We appreciate your support and as always…

“Yesterday is past. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. So Today We Ride!” – Downhill Derelict motto.
