Runs for Riverdale!

Welcome to another exciting baseball season! As friends of the program I am reaching out and asking for your support.

As one of the only schools in the WCAC without our own field you are well aware of how much Riverdale #1, and our exclusive rights to it, mean to the program. We are in the process of renegotiating this exclusive contract and have been informed that as part of the deal we are required to make some updates.

The turf in the batting cages at Riverdale #1 was installed in 1999, and the county is requiring that it be replaced. The cost for this update is approximately $12,000 and raising the funds is our responsibility.

While the replacement turf is our responsibility, the Prince George’s County Sports Foundation has offered to match our donations dollar for dollar on another exciting project. The goal here is to enclose Riverdale #1 with a wind screen, and construct a press box and seating behind home plate. These projects would greatly enhance the atmosphere and fan experience for the DeMatha faithful. Costs for these projects are still being finalized, but any monies we raise over the costs of the turf will be matched dollar for dollar.

This season, members of the varsity baseball team will be participating in Runs for Riverdale. Runs for Riverdale allows donors the opportunity to decide how they would like to contribute, while providing great motivation for our team to score a lot of runs! While outright donations are always appreciated, you may also pledge a dollar amount per run for the entire season. All donations are tax deductible.
