ThinkBIG is a non-profit organization created in 2012 that has the main mission of financially supporting pediatric cancer patients and their families who are treated at the Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. When a family is diagnosed with pediatric cancer, they will end up spending a lot of time in the hospital for scheduled chemotherapy/radiation, plus unexpected admissions from complications of their treatment. It is not uncommon for these families to start experiencing financial stresses, especially since a caregiver usually takes a leave of absence from work. ThinkBIG aims to alleviate these financial difficulties by helping families with their rent/mortgage payments, utility bills, and other out of pocket medical expenses. Since being founded, ThinkBIG has helped more than 40 unique families with more than $80,000 in expenses.
