As a long-time athlete, Malcolm Jenkins knew first-hand the value of sports in youth development and the importance of playing sports safely. Using the power of sport for social good, Malcolm Jenkins launched his first annual No PHLY Zone Challenge powered by PLEDGE IT and raised more than $7,400 for the Youth Sports Safety Initiative.
Founded in 2014, PLEDGE IT is an online fundraising platform that empowers teams and athletes to raise money based on their athletic performance. Fans can pledge any dollar amount for every touchdown, run or point scored to benefit their favorite cause.
During the 2015 NFL season, Malcolm Jenkins invited fans to join his NO PHLY Zone Challenge. Fans had the opportunity to pledge a donation for every team interception the Eagles record during the season. Fans who pledged $5 or $10 could receive an exclusive No PHLY Zone hoodie or t-shirt, respectively.
Eagles fans were able to raise $7,423 for the Youth Sports Safety Initiative. Together, 41 fans participated in the challenge and pledged a total of $494.87 dollars per interception. Malcolm's campaign was shared on Facebook more than 700 times by fans.
"Overall, the campaign went great and fans loved the t-shirt incentives. Excited to work with the PLEDGE IT team again in 2016!" - Gwen Jenkins, Executive Director of the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation
