Proceeds benefit Friends of Northern Lake Champlain
This is the 10th Anniversary of the Switchback Bike for the Lake. This annual fundraising event raises awareness and funds for the Friends of Northern Lake Champlain efforts for clean water in the northern arm of the lake.
The money raised as this event helps us to complete projects in Franklin & Grand Isle Counties with all types of landowners.
In 2019, FNLC completed Phase 1 of the Deer Brook Gully which included designing eight swale projects to be done over the next three years in collaboration with VTrans.
During the past year, FNLC has also installed and/or designed three rain garden and rain barrel projects with area schools to reduce stormwater pollutant runoff with area schools. The installations and completions of these projects will be done during 2020. The rain gardens and rain barrels will also act as a learning tool at these schools and in the community.
At the start of the 2019-2020 school year, together with state agencies, and the St. Albans Museum, FNLC offered “Lake Lessons”, an educational curriculum to eight area schools. The two-day program educates students in grades four and eight about water quality.
By raising additional dollars, you help to ensure FNLC can continue these projects that impact water quality in the northern arm of Lake Champlain.
Thank you for your efforts.
