Billings & Drango: Reps for Rare Diseases

A pair of former Baylor Bears, OL Spencer Drango and DT Andrew Billings, have chosen to make the 2016 NFL Combine a platform to inspire the rare disease community with hope through the power of sport.

Drango and Billings are teaming up again to do a Reps For Rare Diseases campaign to support the Baylor Chapter through Uplifting Athletes.

Drango and Billings each served as President for the Uplifting Athletes Baylor Chapter and participated in both Lift For Life events held by the Bears.

“I’m really excited to continue my support for Baylor’s Chapter of Uplifting Athletes and the rare disease community,” Drango said.

The Baylor Chapter of Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $15,000 in support of the rare disease community through its Lift For Life events and Touchdown Pledge Drive campaigns. The inspiration for the Baylor Chapter is Jacoby Burke, a young man from Waco who is battling cerebral palsy.

Uplifting Athletes inspires the rare disease community with hope through the power of sport and empowers medical researchers to find cures. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and consequently lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments.

Founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes has college football student-athlete led chapters nationwide in FBS and FCS programs including half the schools in the Big Ten and ACC conferences.
