Backpacking for Birdseye

Our names are Jason Throop and Jay Harder and we love to backpack.  We also are passionate about the Birdseye Youth Center.  This youth center is close to opening.  It has been a real labor of love for many of us that have understood its need and mission.

The mission of the Birdseye Youth Center is to bear one anothers burdens (Galations 6:2).  To youth, that is to care about what they care about, to help them navigate their lives, to show them that they are loved by both us and Christ.  We want to walk along side of them when there is no one else there.  Young people today face unprecidented preasure to know who they are and who they want to be and then to not have anyone there to guide them in those decisions leaves them feeling helpless and unloved.  Here they will be loved and they will be safe.

Prices have increased drastically since the inception of the youth center, but everyone has continued to give of their time and recources.  The last big need is for a heating and air system in it.  The furnace is close to 40 yrs old and there is no air conditioner.  Our hope is to raise enough money for them to be able to purchase the system that they need.  On March 11, 2023 we will begin a 150 mile, 13 day journey.  We chose this trail because $1.00 per mile for 150 people or .50 cents per mile for 300 people and the goal is met.  We will do the hard part, the hike.  Will you please join us in two ways: give and get the word out.  The more people that know the more doable this is!  Thank you so much in your interest in our project.  All money goes directly to the Birdseye Youth Center and any extra that we get will go to it as well to help with any other needs it has.  Thank you so much for partnering with us to help finish the Birdseye Youth Center!
