The Arizona Chapter of Uplifting Athletes is looking to turn touchdowns into rare disease research dollars.
In order to support the Wildcats’ chosen rare disease, Cystic fibrosis, the Arizona Chapter is holding a Touchdown Pledge Drive on November 8.
For the home game at Arizona Stadium against fellow Pac 12 South Division foe Colorado, each touchdown the Wildcats score will support Cystic fibrosis research.
Fans can support the football student-athlete led Arizona Chapter by making a donation through the Wildcats’ online Touchdown Pledge Drive site.
The Arizona Chapter formed in 2013 when members of the football team met Andrew Valdez, a Tucson teenager who is battling Cystic fibrosis.
Valdez is a huge Arizona Wildcats sports fan and his father is an employee at the university. So the football student-athletes took the relationship a step further and formed an Uplifting Athletes Chapter.
Earlier this year the Arizona Chapter held its inaugural Lift For Life on campus and Andrew was able to join the team during the event. The Arizona Chapter raised $4,534 for Cystic fibrosis research in holding its first event.
Uplifting Athletes is a national non-profit organization aligning college football with rare diseases and raising them as a national priority through outreach, research, education and advocacy.
Each of the 25 student-athlete led chapters nationwide raises research funds and brings awareness to their chosen rare disease through a Lift For Life fundraiser.
