300 Miles to endless Opportunities for kids

I am competing in the 2022 Gaucho Derby, a 300-mile horse race across Patagonia. This race is the culmination of a long personal journey but also a platform for me to raise scholarship money for a local organization called Camp Fire. Camp Fire Central Oregon provides opportunities for children to find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are by connecting young people to themselves, to others, and to the outdoors.

I have personal experience with this incredible organization as I have been a big sister in the Big Brother Big Sister program for the last 6 years. As a big sister, one of my goals is to expand my little sister’s world and fill it full of possibilities. Every year Camp Fire has supported us and offered scholarship opportunities for my little sister. From courses on safe biking and babysitting, to teen service challenges, and camp counselor training, they have always been there.

The team at Camp Fire believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, enjoy nature, and thrive, so they offer a variety of programs, camps, events, and service-learning projects meant to engage youth and inspire them to be themselves. Young people want to shape the world. Through Camp Fire, they can see immediate action and discover that they have what it takes to make a difference now. They are an inclusive organization, welcoming all youth.

All money raised in this fundraiser will go towards scholarships through Camp Fire, so more kids can gain access to great opportunities.
